Mahendragarh: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped in Kanina in Mahendragarh district of Haryana. The CBSE topper was returning home from her coaching class when the incident took place.
The girl was kidnapped on Wednesday by the accused who took her to a secluded place in their car. She was subsequently offered a drink laced with sedatives and then gang-raped. She was later found unconscious at a bus stop.
According to an official of women's police station, a 'zero FIR' was lodged on the complaint of the woman, and the investigation was being conducted by the Mahendergarh police as the incident occurred under their jurisdiction.
A zero FIR can be filed in any police station, irrespective of place of incident/jurisdiction, and the same can be later transferred to the appropriate police station.
According to a report, the family of the girl alleged that the miscreants threatened to kill the girl if she reported the crime to the police.
The survivor is reportedly brilliant at academics and was felicitated by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Republic Day parade upon topping her CBSE exams in Panchkula.
The Mahendragarh police are looking into the case and investigations are underway.
