Bengaluru: While a video of three men destroying the pillars at the Hampi world heritage site in Karnataka went viral on social media, several people showcased their displeasure over the act, and urged the Karnataka government to investigate this.

According to reports, four men, who hail from Madhya Pradesh, have been held for their wrongdoings in connection with the destruction of ancient pillars at Hampi.

As the video went viral, people urged the Karnataka government to take required action against the culprits. Regarding this, the police officials had been to Bengaluru and Mumbai in search of the culprits and had formed three teams to locate them.

The Archaeological Survey of India, which had taken the incident seriously, has already initiated disciplinary action against those and posted security at the site. Additional security has now been arranged to protect the monuments in the section.

The video of three men vandalising the pillars came to light on February 2, and within a week, the police officials were successful in the case. Hampi, the heritage city, was listed in the 'Times Magazine' as the second must-see place in 2019 days before the youth vandalised the pillars.
