Gauri Lankesh murder case: Police closing in on suspects with three arrests

With SIT intensifying its probe on the murder of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh and three arrests the SIT is getting closer to finding the mastermind of this operation.

With the arrest of three accused persons - two from Udupi and one from Belagavi in Karnataka - a major breakthrough is expected in the Gauri lankesh murder case.

The two from Udupi are identified as Sandesh Shetty and Yuvaraj Kanchinadka and both are said to be members of Hindu Jagaran Vedike.

Apart from this, Bengaluru's DCP West MN Anuchet has confirmed the arrest of one person has been arrested in Gauri Lankesh murder case in Belagavi.

Apparently, the police were hoping to arrest two but they have picked up one person from Belagavi, Karnataka, and one has been arrested, Anuchet said.

With Special Investigation Team (SIT) intensifying its probe on the murder of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, one more arrest is imminent. With each arrest, the SIT is getting closer to finding the mastermind of this operation.

Earlier, the arrests made so far gave way to speculations that the murdereres of Gauri Lankesh and rationalist, researcher MM Kalburgi might be the same.

After the interrigation of the person picked up by the police (details not available yet), more details are likely to be availed.

So far, Mohan Nayak, KT Naveen Kumar alias Hotte Manja, Parashuram Waghmare, Manohar Edve, Sujeeth Kumar alias Praveen, Amol Kale, Amit Degvekar, Rajesh Bangera, Ganesh Miskin are arrested in the Gauri murder case.

Gauri Lankesh was shot dead in front of her house at Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Bengaluru on 5 September 2017.

Though there was not much progress in the investigation for some months after the arrest of Hotte Manja alias KT Naveen Kumar's arrest in March this year helped SIT intensify their probe.
