Gadag: Anganwadi ceiling comes crashing down on children; 15 injured

Gadag: The ceiling of an anganwadi came crashing down on children in Gadag on Thursday. 15 children were injured in this incident, of which five have suffered deep cuts and bruises on the shoulders.

Parents of the injured children blamed anganwadi authorities and said that it was caused due to their sheer negligence.

Aggrieved parents said that officials attached to women and child department in Karnataka did not bother repairing the dilapidated structure or even shift the children to a safer location.

The anganwadi has over 30 children whose parents depend on the Anganwadi for their child’s education and food from the education department. The villagers encircled and took the officers to task.

The injured children were taken to Laxmeshwar Taluk Hospital for medical treatment.
