The Uttar Pradesh government recently initiated the process of withdrawing cases related to the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, which included hate speech cases against Sadhvi Prachi.
Former Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sadhvi Prachi, who is known for her controversial statements, is back again. She advised Muslim women to marry Hindus men and later, referring the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as her brother, requested him to ensure that loudspeakers at mosques were switched off during the Kaanwar Yatra processions in the state.
On Muslim women marrying Hindu men, she believes it will eradicate 'social evils' such as triple talaq and halala. Sadhvi Prachi said she is fighting the battle for women for a long time. "This problem of triple talaq, for which our sister Nida Khan of Bareilly is fighting, I would request her and other such women to leave the religion because either there would be talaq or halala there,” she said.
In January 2018, the state government had begun the process of withdrawing two cases of hate speech and criminal charges filed against Sadhvi Prachi and others including two BJP MPs and three BJP MLAs. The district administration is yet to send the report to the government following which the decision of withdrawal is pending
