Harsh Dev Singh, a former Jammu and Kashmir minister, alleged that the SSP of Udhampur had been deliberately targeting workers of Panthers Party
Police have filed a criminal case against former Jammu and Kashmir minister Harsh Dev Singh for threatening and misbehaving with two senior officers in the Udhampur district.
Panthers Party president Singh alleged SSP Udhampur Rayees Bhat of using unparliamentary language inside the district magistrate's office. He further alleged that the policemen misbehaved with party workers, including his wife, and also snatched his mobile phone.
"He even threatened me of dire consequences. He tore a copy of our complaint which we had filed against his misconduct", Singh said.
Triggering a controversy, Singh said, "Bhat Saab, aapki anantnag mein chalti hogi, jisko aap Islamabad kehte hai, yahan Jammu mein aapki nahi chalegi."
Singh alleged that the SSP of Udhampur had been deliberately targeting workers of Panthers Party in Udhampur and had logged several FIRs against him and his workers.
Harsh Dev Singh appealed governor NN Vohra to intervene in the matter.
SSP Udhampur Rayees Bhat said, "Yesterday, we got a complaint from District Magistrate, Udhampur, that official work at the DM office had been obstructed and unparliamentary language had been used by Panthers Party workers including Harsh Dev Singh, acting upon which we have lodged an FIR under the Sections 353, 147, 188 and the probe is underway."
While reacting to the allegations put up by Singh regarding the manhandling of his wife, Rayees termed the allegations as baseless and said that the policemen had manhandled no man or woman.
