New Delhi: Thousands of farmers from across the nation are protesting in Delhi against low prices for their produce and also on the lack of debt relief. Now, Tamil Nadu farmers too have joined as they reached the national capital with skulls.

The massive protest by farmers is called as the Kisan Mukti March. The farmers are marching towards Parliament. The protest started on Thursday and is continuing on Friday.

The protest is being staged by the farmers from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

The New Indian Express reported that the Tamil Nadu framers are threatening a naked march if they are not allowed into Parliament. Around 1,200 members of Tamil Nadu farmer leader Ayyakannu’s farmers organisation came to Delhi with skulls of farmers who had committed suicide in the delta region.

Ayyakannu and his National South Indian River Interlinking Agriculturalists Association had protested in Delhi last year too. The association is known for its creative ways of protesting.

Last year, around 100 framers from Tamil Nadu held a 41-day long protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. They were seeking drought relief and held dead snakes in their mouth and wore skulls of departed farmers around their necks.

The march is being organised under the banner of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) and is a platform that represents around 200 framer groups.
