Faridabad: A Dalit man in Faridabad, Haryana was murdered by the brother of his Muslim wife, as the family refused to accept their love marriage.
Sanjay, a Dalit man living in 3-Number Chowk of Faridabad, married his neighbour, who hails from a Muslim family, one year ago.
They later got their marriage registered in Rajasthan but the woman’s family did not approve of their love marriage.
The relatives of deceased, Sanjay, have alleged that the girl's brother had taken Sanjay from the house on August 16 and murdered him. After six days, Sanjay’s body was found. Infuriated family members froze the 3-Number Chowk of Faridabad, demanding strict action against the accused.
The victim's family told MyNation that Sanjay had married a Muslim girl living in the same neighbourhood a year ago. In Rajasthan, both of them had registered their marriage in court but the girl's relatives pressured them into getting divorced. Since then, Sanjay was living outside of Faridabad. But the girl's father called Sanjay and he reached his house on August 15. On August 16, the girl's brother, Saleem, called Sanjay to their house. After this, Sanjay did not return home.
Faridabad police officials said that Sanjay’s family members have accused Saleem of murder. He is being interrogated and is taken into custody.
