New Delhi: After the Supreme Court rejected a plea to probe the allegations of corruption in the Rafale aircraft deal, an ex-senior Air Force officer who was attacked by the Congress for defending the contract while in service, today said the apex court order has “put a seal of truth” on it.

“I think the Supreme Court has wisely captured the essence of a very complex subject and they have come to a correct conclusion. All us if who were in the game always knew that how clean (the deal) was and now the Supreme Court has put a seal of truth on it,” ex-Air Force vice-chief Air Marshal SB Deo told MyNation.

The officer, before his retirement in September, had defended the deal saying that there was no wrongdoing and the planes were required urgently by the Air Force for meeting its operational requirements.

Reminded about how he was attacked by Congress supporters on social media and by party spokespersons for defending the deal, Deo said he was “not affected” in any way by the charges as he was speaking the truth.

“I am not bothered in any way as I would be starting something of my own. However, I must say that this government moved very swiftly to get the planes required urgently by the Air Force,” the veteran officer said.

Deo said he did not see a controversy in the deal as he was involved in it throughout its signing, and there were no issues in it.
