The raid is vital following Telangana Rashtra Samithi's appeal to drive Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party out of Telangana.
Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax officers conducted a raid at Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP YS Chowdary’s residence in Hyderabad, Telangana, as part of probe into allegations of money laundering and misappropriations.
The raid was conducted at the residence and offices of Chowdary in Hyderabad. He owns Sujana Group of Industries and is popularly known as Sujana Chowdary.
Late on Friday, ED and I-T officers started their searches at the Sujana group offices. The search is continued today too.
The officials split into teams and started searching Chowdhary’s properties and assets. Splendid Metal Products Ltd, Sujana Universal Industries at Nagarjuna Hills and head office at Jubilee Hills Road Number 10 were also raided. So far, the officers are said to have found valuable documents relating to misappropriations conducted by MP Chowdary.
Chowdary was a former Union minister, who resigned from the Narendra Modi government after his party TDP pulled out of NDA alliance, blaming it on Centre's refusal to grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh. He was serving as minister for science and technology.
The raid is being considered important following Telangana Rashtra Samithi's appeal to drive Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's TDP out of Telangana.
Telangana is going for Assembly elections on December 7. Any black mark on TDP contestants will prove profitable for rival and caretaker chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's party TDP.
