LDF government maintains a strong stand to implement the Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala. The Travancore Devaswom Board's president A Padmakumar said that they would move the apex court with the help of advocate Chandra Uday Singh seeking time to implement the Sabarimala verdict.

Pamba: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), which manages Sabarimala temple, will move a plea in the apex court today seeking time to implement the verdict of September 28, which allowed women of all ages to worship at the temple.

The TDB's new decision comes a day after the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, at an all-party meeting, took a strong stand to implement the Supreme Court order and rejected proposals by opposition parties.

TDB president A Padmakumar said, "We will move the Supreme Court on Monday through advocate Chandra Uday Singh."

The board on Friday said it would move the Supreme Court either on Saturday or Monday seeking more time to implement the September 28 verdict.

The Supreme Court on September 28 passed a judgment allowing the entry of women between the ages of 10 and 50 into Kerala’s Sabarimala temple. Women of all ages should be allowed in Kerala's renowned Sabarimala temple, the Supreme Court ordered, ending the age-old ban.

The temple and surrounding areas have come under unprecedented security for the season, which draws lakhs of devotees to offer prayers to Lord Ayyappa.

Today, Union minister KJ Alphons said, “A situation worse than the emergency is witnessed in Sabarimala. The devotees are not allowed to go up. Section 144 is imposed for no reason. Devotees are not terrorists, why do they need 15000 policemen here?"

The famous shrine temple had opened on Friday evening for the two-month-long annual pilgrimage season as a stand-off continued over the entry women of menstrual age into the shrine.
