Bhubaneswar: As the cyclonic storm DAYE made a landfall, it brought heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha. The most affected regions are Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at some places in Balangir, Bararh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts till the morning of Saturday, the MeT centre said.

1) First and foremost, secure items, especially those that are outside your home.
2) Prepare an emergency kit that includes, medicines, torch, battery, matches, candles etc.
3) Make sure windows are fitted/ closed properly.
4) Try and follow the news. If you can’t switch on the TV, you will get all updates from All India Radio (AIR).
5) If flooding happens, try and contact the rescue team.
6) Don’t use electrical appliances as it might lead to electrocution.
7) Secure drinking water and make sure it doesn’t get contaminated.
8) If there is a chance of flash flooding, move to higher grounds immediately.
Taking the situation of cyclone DAYE into account, the NDRF and the ODRAF have been deployed in different districts. One NDRF team each has been deployed in Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Puri, Nayagarh and Kandhamal districts with 17 boats and other emergency equipment.
