Telangana Congress on October 4, launched its campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections after performing puja at the famous Jogulamba temple at Alampur, one of the 'Shakti Peetams' in the country, situated in the Gadwal district
Hyderabad: Telangana Congress on Thursday launched the party's campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state after performing puja at the famous Jogulamba temple at Alampur, about 220 km from here.
"The language used by KCR (as the caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is popularly known) in hitting out at the opposition leaders is not proper," the party's campaign committee chairman Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, told reporters after launching the campaign.
The temple, one of the 'Shakti Peetams' in the country, is located at Alampur in Jogulamba Gadwal district.
The Congress is engaged in talks with the TDP, CPI and Telangana Jana Samiti to forge an electoral alliance.
The Telangana Assembly was dissolved on September six, more than eight months ahead of schedule, on the recommendation of the government, paving the way for early elections. The Election Commission is yet to announce the poll schedule.
Dubbing the proposed Congress-TDP pre-poll alliance as anti-Telangana, KCR Wednesday said the opposition wants to 'hand over' the state to 'Andhra People' once again.
Lashing out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, he alleged that he (his Andhra Pradesh counterpart) was caught red-handed in the 'cash-for-vote' scam in 2015.
Vikramarka alleged that the caretaker Chief Minister "seems to be under depression and his language at a public meeting at Nizamabad on Wednesday proves the fact."
Claiming there was no clarity on "where the loans the state government took have gone and where the funds were spent," he said "the issue would be taken to the notice of the people during the campaign."
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, AICC secretary and the partys Telangana in-charge R C Khuntia, and senior leaders D K Aruna and K Jana Reddy were among those who offered prayers before kicking off the campaign from the temple town of Alampur.
The party leadership decided to launch the official campaign with the blessings of the Goddess Jogulamba, Congress leaders said.
Vikramarka said the party leaders prayed for divine intervention for the welfare of the people of Telangana.
The Congress leaders later participated in a roadshow.
