CIA and RAW top officials meet to discuss plan of action against Dawood, terrorism

The Indian spy team held talks with their American counterparts around the time when National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was in the US capital for the meetings

New Delhi: Soon after the 2+2 meeting between defence and foreign ministers of India, top officials of Indian external intelligence agency Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) and United States intelligence agency CIA officials met over the weekend in Washington to discuss the future plan of action against underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Pakistan-backed terrorist networks operating in both India and Afghanistan against American interests. The two agencies also discussed the threat from ISIS mounting on the two nations.

The Indian spy team held talks with their American counterparts around the time when National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was in the US capital for the meetings. Doval has met Donald Trump’s government top officials including Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State and Ex-CIA Director.

US and India held talks to further improve political and security ties between two countries on 6th September. Communication, Compatibility, Security agreement (COMCASA) was signed in Delhi after first 2+2 talks between Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and US secretary of state Michael R Pompeo and Defence secretary James Mattis. Later, Ajit Doval along with top officers went to Washington for another round of talks. 

The Indian government is with the help of R&AW is trying to get details of Dawood Ibrahim’s property in US. Indian intelligence officers are also gathering information of Dawood’s operatives, bank accounts and other details, seeking help from CIA who has assured to share details of his properties.

This is not the first time when India has sought the help of other nations to hit Dawood financially. The UK government has already confiscated Dawood Ibrahim’s property in London after constant efforts ofthe Indian government.
Also, from Dubai, Dawood’s close aide Farooq Takla was brought to India. Takla is involved in 1993 Mumbai bomb blast and fled after the blast. Later, a Red Corner Notice was issued against him in 1995 but deported in March this year.

Apart from Dawood, RAW and CIA will also share information related to ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e Toiba and other terror networks.
