Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu made a trip to Chennai to meet with DMK chief MK Stalin as part of his continued efforts to bring non-BJP parties on to a common platform.
Chennai: After meeting Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi and Deve Gowda, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu seems to be continuing his efforts to bring opposition parties together to fight BJP. On Friday, Naidu met DMK chief MK Stalin at his residence in Chennai.
This meeting comes a day after he met JD(S) leaders HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy in Karnataka. Since DMK has already announced its partnership with Congress with respect to the Lok Sabha election, Naidu would not find it hard to convince DMK since he has already met with Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.
While Naidu stressed on the need to oppose the BJP, Stalin had already congratulated Naidu and Rahul Gandhi for "initiating steps towards bringing non-BJP parties together".
DMK's relationship with TDP goes a long way. the two parties have been part of two non-Congress and non-BJP coalitions in the past - National Front (1989) and United Front (1996).
