New Delhi: As Modi government is all set to present the interim budget on February 1, women in the work force are looking forward to a growth in gender-sensitive policies along with income tax sops.

Performance of the Modi government in this term is where the focus lies. Has it given women quite a bit to cheer?

So far, the allocation for women-specific programmes has been increased by 4%. With participation of women in the workforce having dropped from 32% in 2016 to 23% in 2018 (as per the India Skills Report 2018), for the first three years of their employment, women employees contribution to EPF has been increased to 8%.

1. The scheme for adoloscent girls

It aims to empower and improve their (girls in the age group of 11-18) social status through nutrition, life skills, home skills and vocational training.

2. Making education accessible

Seven IITs, seven IIMs, 14 IIITs, 1NIT, 2 IISER have been established and made operational across different states to ensure 'Beti Padhao Beti Bachao yojna' is implemented to stop promote education among girls. 

3. Enhancing capabilities

Modi's Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana saw over 34,73,771 enrolling in over 15,519 training centres.
