Srinagar: In a major success, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday busted a terror module of the Hizbul Mujahideen in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were arrested by the Special Operation Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in a raid carried out on Thursday night in Lolab area.
The police have arrested two persons named Shakir Ahmad Wani, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, and Ghulam Mustafa Sheikh. Both are residents of Tekipora, Lolab.
A senior police official told MyNation that the arrested BSF jawan Shakir was posted outside the state and was arrested when he was on leave. "Both of them were providing support to terrorists and luring local youth to join terror ranks," he said.
BSF sources told MyNation that Shakir is a relative of Manan Wani, a top Hizbul Commander and AMU research scholar from Kupwara of Jammu and Kashmir who joined the terror outfit in January this year.
According to the official police statement, Shakir and Ghulam were detained in this regard for questioning. After a sustained questioning, a pistol was recovered after their disclosure.
The police have registered an FIR in this case at Sogam Police Station and further investigation is underway.
