Terash Gowalla, a BJP MLA representing Duliajan constituency in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district, said that there are various reasons behind his resignation
Guwahati: Disappointed over the appointment of the chairman of Assam Gas Company, an Assam BJP MLA has sent his resignation letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday night.
Terash Gowalla, a BJP MLA representing Duliajan constituency in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district, on Tuesday, said that there are various reasons behind his resignation.
Gowalla said that he has sent his resignation letter to the Assam CM, who is also the leader of the BJP Legislative Party.
“Yes, I sent my resignation letter to the Assam CM and the leader of the BJP Legislative Party on Monday night. There are various reasons. I am not able to fulfil my duties as an MLA and have spoken to the CM about it. I will discuss the matter with my constituency party workers and then I will send my resignation letter to the speaker of the Assam assembly. The Assam Gas Company Ltd (AGCL) is in Duliajan and I am a ruling party MLA, but the appointment of the Chairman post of the company was made without consulting me. It is one of major reasons,” Gowalla said.
It is to be mentioned that Sonowal on Monday approved the appointment of 10 legislators among 49 people as heads of corporations and boards on Monday night.
BJP MLA Bolin Chetia was appointed as the chairman of the Assam Gas Company Limited.
