Singh had reached Kishtwar today afternoon along with top brass of state BJP leadership to offer condolences and take part in the cremation ceremony
Jammu: Angry mourners present at the funeral of two Bhartiya Janta Party leaders who were killed by terrorists in Kishtwar district reportedly manhandled and heckled Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Dr Jitendra Singh who was there to attend the cremation on Friday.
Senior BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother were shot dead by militants in the communally-sensitive Kishtwar district on Thursday night.
Singh had reached Kishtwar today afternoon along with top brass of state BJP leadership to offer condolences and take part in the cremation ceremony organised for Parrihar brothers.
Surrounded by a thick posse of security personnel when Dr Singh was stepping out of the cremation ground, local residents tried to approach him but were prevented from coming closer.
Agitated residents then started raising the issue of 'selective' killing of members of the minority community and poor security arrangements in the district to ensure their safety.
The situation in Kishtwar town is still tense and the curfew has been placed in the whole town for the second consecutive day. Police said it will hold a review meeting to take stock of the situation. Internet services likely to be restored on Saturday.
