New Delhi: December 7 may be still a while away, but the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to create a buzz around it by holding a conclave in the national capital on Saturday, named ‘Save Bengal’. This is seen to be a precursor of the rath yatras starting December 7 that will cross all 42 constituencies of Bengal with an eye to getting 21 Lok Sabha seats, come 2019 general election.

Friday's conclave is not only attended by BJPs national joint-general secretary of organisation Shiv Prakash, but also its state president Dilip Ghosh, whose cavalcade was attacked last week. Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta and Dr Anirban Ganguly, SP Mukherjee Research Foundation director were also in attendance. The conclave is to launch 'Save Bengal', a movement where the current socio-political situation of the eastern state will be discussed more aggressively and brought in the national discourse.

Speaking to MyNation, Anirban Ganguly said, "The situation of Bengal is well known to all. But this event is to make people of Delhi aware of the lawlessness, political violence, rampant corruption and politics of appeasement practiced by Mamata Banerjee government". Sources say that the conclave is targeted at the educated elite and influencers of Delhi who frequent TV studios or are regular speakers at different conclaves.

This event comes just after two Bengal visits by Amit Shah were inside the closed doors the party's fortune in2019 general election was discussed on a micro level. Sources have told MyNation, that Amit Shah during his two visits, had identified 21 seats out of 42 as key seats where the BJP has a chance to win if planned and executed properly. BJP insiders say Amit Shah has given a Mission 21+ goal to the state leadership and the central in charge as well. Shah had also asked the BJP to throw the entire might on those seats. It is with this goal that Mukul Roy has been given bigger responsibility and state in charge Kailash Vijayvargiya has been asked to make trips to Bengal more often to coordinate.

Save Bengal conclave is not an insignificant meeting in Delhi but a sign that how seriously BJP is pursuing the Mission 21+ in Bengal. It’s taking place after Shah has set the goal and has given specific roles to Roy and Vijayvargiya before the much-hyped rath yatra. The yatra is planned to create a pro-BJP atmosphere in the state that may help BJP in its goal in 2019.

Shah is slated to kick off the rath yatra on December 7 from Coochbehar district in the north followed by on December 9 from Gangasagar in the south and on December 14 from the Tarapith temple in Birbhum district. Shah will attend all three rallies that will take place on the conclusion of the respective yatras.

Is ‘Save Bengal’ much more than an exchange of ideas on Bengal as claimed? Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh gave a cryptic smile.
