New Delhi: When a party loses power in three states in one go, questions are bound to be raised about its strategy and introspection becomes inevitable. So, when the BJP lost Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to the Congress, the party's detractors mocked, rebels claimed vindication and allies extracted their pound of flesh in the seat-sharing negotiations for the 2019 general election. But BJP did what it had to do. Taking the defeat in its stride, the BJP chalked out a grand plan for 2019 general election within 5 days of the result announcement, so that they can celebrate in the summer of 2019. The plan was executed within a week of conceiving it. The BJP is calling it 'Team 18'. MyNation has exclusive access to the details of its grand plan that enjoys the consent of no less than the party's mascot, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

What's Team 18?

The BJP has constituted a team of 18 people for every Lok Sabha constituency, which are 543 in all. There are 9,774 workers from the BJP cadre who are already entrusted with the job for monitoring, cultivating and moulding local perspectives about 'Modi Sarkar', until the elections are over.

A source told this correspondent there are three put in charge of media management. Another three will head the campaign in each Lok Sabha constituency on social media. The job of those in charge of media are not to give quotes or bytes to news organisations, but monitor what local media is saying about the MP and Narendra Modi government. They will keep a tab on the vernacular dailies, news channels and local news portals. Any negative stories published are kept a track of.

The three social media heads of each constituency will similarly keep a track of conversations in popular local WhatsApp groups and Facebook pages of people of influence in the constituency.

Many popular Facebook accounts have come up in the past one year across India that target local masses using regional languages and often exploring the local sentiments.

Three of them are entrusted with the task to keep a tab on them. A source suggests, if a post critiquing a sitting BJP MP is drawing too much 'likes' or 'shares',it  may decisively work against his another nomination from the party in 2019.

That's not all

A BJP source told MyNation there will also be a Lok Sabha prabhari (superviser), a Lok Sabha sanyojak (Coordinator), one Lok Sabha sah-sanyojak (cocoordinator)
as well in Team 18. MyNation has reliably learnt there is a Lok Sabha vistarak (expansionist) as well in each of 543 constituencies whose role is to tweak, modulate and shape public opinion in favour of 'Modi Sarkar'.

Who will Team 18 report to?

The Team 18 will send daily report to the BJP district presidents who compile and send it, in turn, on a weekly basis to the state president of the party. These state presidents, in turn, send the weekly reports received from all the constituencies to BJP president Amit Shah, the man who devised this strategy.

Sources say, Shah had had a discussion with Prime Minister Modi before discussing the matter with the rest of the leadership of the BJP. Both are of the view that the BJP is not only losing the perception war but increasingly losing touch with what the constituents want. This move can address that concern. The idea was not discussed at 6A Deendayal Upadhaya Marg, the BJP office, but at Shah's official residence at Akbar Road. And only a select few from the party are kept in the loop. But those who are aware of it are given a sole task by Shah: 'Phir ek bar, Modi sarkar'.
