Yallavva Gayakwad from Kudachi in Belagavi district, Karnataka, went into labour pain as she was travelling by train towards Hyderabad. She had severe pain as the train reached Raibagh station.

An emergency call was made to 108 (ambulance service). But taking her to hospital would have been dangerous, the child was delivered inside the train.

Understanding the situation, when informed, the railway officers decided to halt the train for  half an hour till the delivery process was over.

Yallavva safely delivered a boy and both mother and the newborn are said to be healthy.

At many places in India, no public transport (except metro) was plying due to Bharat Bandh being observed in protest against hike in price of petrol and diesel.

Among all the news of damage and protest, news of humanity showed by the railway officers is a ray of hope that humanity is still alive even during trying times.
