Bengaluru: The software engineer based in Bengaluru tried to jump out of a moving train at KR Puram railway station and fell between the platform and train and was crushed.
38-year-old K Kiran Kumar was deputed to Zurich, Switzerland from Bengaluru by Wipro. His wife had given birth to a son recently. He was on a visit to India to see his new-born son.
He reached India a week ago and went to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, where his wife and child are living currently. After spending time with the family, he left for Bengaluru to return to Switzerland. He left for Chennai by road and boarded a train from there.
Kiran owns a flat in Bengaluru at Akshaya Nagar, near Ramamurthy Nagar in Bengaluru. The flat is near KR Puram railway station.
As the train did not have a stop at KR Puram, he jumped out of the train when it slowed down near KR Puram station. He lost balance and fell between the platform and the train and died on the spot after he was crushed by the moving train.
The police suspect that Kiran was trying to save time and, in an attempt to reach his flat in KR Puram early, he jumped off the slow-moving train.
His mortal remains have been shifted to Bowring Hospital.
His family has been informed. The post-mortem will be conducted today.
In a similar incident on December 19, a software engineer Vikram had gone to the railway station to see off his parents, who had visited him in Bengaluru. After finding their seats, he tried to jump out of the train as it started moving. He lost balance was crushed between the platform and the train and breathed his last in front of his parents.
