Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries' number exceeds 47,000: Advantages explained

New Delhi: The CEO of Ayushman Bharat, Indu Bhushan has said that as of 6 October, the total number of beneficiaries admitted to hospitals has reached 47,091. The scheme, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 September, received 37,353 claims worth Rs 72.5 crore.

Here are few things you need to know about Ayushman Bharat:

1. Ayushman Bharat, which is considered to be the world's largest health insurance scheme, aims to transform the primary, secondary and tertiary health care system in India. It provides health assurance to 10 crore families.

2. Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda said that poor people, who had to sell their resources for treatment earlier, now can get health care without being pushed to poverty.

3. Ayushman Bharat provides medical insurance cover worth Rs 5 lakh a year to poor patients. It covers, diagnostics, medication, pre- and post-hospitalisation and travelling expenses.

4. Once can register with the scheme online with his or her Aadhar card, according to its official website.

5. The eligibility for the scheme depends on the Socio Economic and Caste Census survey that performs by the government in 2011. Around 10.74 crore families, belonging to rural and urban areas, are eligible to apply for this program, according to the census.

6. However, if there are any changes made in the SECC data, it will be automatically applied to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana Registration Online / Scheme eligibility.
