Assam: BSF jawan kills colleague, injures one more after argument in Karimganj district

Guwahati: A BSF jawan was killed, one more was injured after a BSF jawan opened fire at them in Assam’s Karimganj district on Tuesday night, police said.

The incident took place at Lakhipur Border Out Post in the Barak valley along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Sources said Shiv Yogi Yadav, a constable of 7th Battalion of BSF, got into an argument with two of his colleagues and opened fire with his Insas rifle.

Two head constables, Ashok Kumar Kangaria and A R Pal, were seriously injured and were immediately rushed to the Karimganj civil hospital.

In the hospital, Kangaria was declared dead on arrival. Pal was taken to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

Police said Yadav fled from the area with his Insas rifle, two loaded magazines with 40 rounds live ammunition, a wireless set. A search operation has been launched in order to trace Yadav.
