The terrorists were reportedly using advanced technology to prepare cadres to spread communal mania as well as to leak important intelligence information
Jharkhand: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has unearthed a large, technologically advanced terrorist network in Ranchi.
The organisation was being run on the pretext of network training centres in Kantatoli and Kanke Road of the city. Almost a dozen people spying for Pakistan have been detained by ATS and are currently being interrogated by the ATS and Special Branch.
According to police sources, the gang members were using a telecom tower and SIM box to send over 50 thousand messages in one go and make UIP calls to instigate communal mania in the country and to leak sensitive information.
The sources also revealed that 10 thousand SIM cards and SIM boxes have been recovered from the raid. Interestingly, the SIM cards were issued in the name of the same person. The organisation had also installed an Airtel 4G tower in their centre so that their calls could not be traced.
During the interrogation, it also came to light that the funding for this operation was being done from Dubai, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
It is also reported that the gang has affiliations in Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Jamtara and Pakud. There is an ongoing investigation in these areas and almost two dozen teams are involved in the raid. The mastermind of this entire operation is still absconding so, the state police are keeping details of the investigation under wraps.
Apart from ATS, CID and special branch are also involved in exposing this terror network. Even the international police organisation, Interpol, had their eyes on this terror network.
Following several intelligence inputs, the ATS carried out this special raid to crack down on this organisation.
