Officials have suspended the annual Amarnath Yatra from Jammu for three days on Tuesday.
Though concrete information was not given for the suspension, it is believed that non-availability of adequate number of pilgrims prompted the decision.
Bakra Eid, which will be celebrated on Wednesday, may also be the reason why the yatra was temporalily suspended, according to a scorce cited by Indo-Asian News Service.

Press Trust of India also quoted an official saying that no devotee “arrived for the pilgrimage” and eventually the yatra was suspended.
He also added that in case pilgrims arrive at the base camp, the yatra will resume.
However, the Budha Amarnath Yatra went on smoothly with 449 devotees leaving Bhagwati Nagar base camp for the mountainous shrine on Monday.

Several people have even lost their lives in the past due to the extremely strenuous journey to the shrine. On June 2018, a 56-year-old sadhu died due to illness during the pilgrimage.
