Wayanad: Adivasi group of Parakuni Colony in Wayanad, Kerala, have decided to stage a protest in front of Mollywood actor Manju Warrier's home in Thrissur. They allege that Manju failed to keep her promise of getting houses constructed for them.
Manju had reportedly promised to construct houses for 57 families of Parakuni Colony in Kalpetta for an amount of Rs 1.85 crore under the Manju Warrier Foundation. The Adivasis, however, said that they have not received any help from the actor so far and the government too has stayed away from providing benefits to the community in view of this promise.
The Adivasis said that Manju made this promise a year and a half ago. A plan was made after holding talks with the district administration. However, it was mentioned that so far, no work has begun.

Hence, they are planning to protest openly in front of her home.
But some sources say that this plan has been called off after holding discussions with the members of the foundation as well as the government authorities.
The Adivasis had decided to stage protests in front of her house on February 13.
Meanwhile, the law minister AK Balan said to media that there was a misunderstanding between the tribes and it was cleared. So, the Adivasis have decided to call off the protest.
The Adivasis were convinced that there are no legal hurdles in getting benefits from the state government.
Meanwhile, Manju said she never cheated anyone and she herself can't build 57 houses independently. She asked for the government's help and said that she would do the needful immediately.
