Thiruvananthapuram: A Tamil Nadu-based organisation Manithi decided to bring 50 women under the age of 50 to Sabarimala pilgrimage.

It has been reported that they will reach Kerala on Sunday for darshan. The group is yet to reveal the details of the starting time and mode of transport. Selvi said that there would be 15 women from Tamil Nadu, five from Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Karnataka and 20 people from Kerala.
The Kerala Police have tightened security in Sabarimala and surroundings as intelligence reports indicated that there were chances of conflict with the group's arrival. Kottayam district police chief S Harishankar said to media that they hadn’t received any information other than what the media reported.
Selvi said to media that the group has sent a letter to the chief minister’s office and received a reply that the letter had been handed over to the department concerned.
As per latest reports, the group members would meet at a spot in Kerala (Kottayam district) before heading to Pampa. It is also reported that several transgenders will be part of the team.
“Besides trains from Chennai, the team members will come to Kottayam by bus,” said Wayanad native Ammini, a member of the team and state president of tribal women’s organisation. “We are hoping to meet at Kottayam railway station between 5am and 8am.”
Meanwhile, Sabarimala Karma Samiti district convener B Sasikumar said that if the women reach Kottayam to go to Sabarimala, they will be stopped by the women representative of different Hindu organisations.
