181 kg of cannabis set to be smuggled to Sri Lanka; confiscated in Thoothukudi

Thoothukudi: Tamil Nadu police and customs officials on Friday were informed that the cannabis would be transported from Andhra Pradesh to Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, and later it would be transported to the coast of Sri Lanka. The customs officials in Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram began to check the vehicles near Kappapattu beach near Uppira in Thoothukudi district after receiving this information.

The customs officials later saw a truck driver and another person leaving the truck and escaping from the place. The customs officials then found 181 kg of cannabis worth Rs 27 lakh in the truck and seized the vehicle. The police officials have begun a probe to find the truck driver and the other person for further investigation.
