Victim has written a three-page suicide note, before committing taking her life by hanging from the ceiling of her house. The politician in question is Hodigere Ramesh, leader of the SC/ST Unit of JD(S) in Chennagiri.
In a #MeToo situation, a married woman in Karnataka has committed suicide and named a JD(S) leader of the state as the tormentor who forced her for sexual relationship, in her suicide note.
She had written a three-page letter before committing suicide by hanging from the ceiling of her house. The politician in question is Hodigere Ramesh, leader of the SC/ST Unit of JD(S) in Chennagiri. Ramesh had contested three Assembly elections from Chennagiri constituency and lost.
The victim was identified as Indirabai. She and Ramesh were said to have known each other for three years. In the letter, she has accused Ramesh of misusing her friendship and forcing her for sexual favours.
Victim is a resident of Shivamogga district and has explained her ordeal with the politician.
According to reports, Indirabai was married, but had separated from her husband. It is said that her daughter, who was studying in class seven, had committed suicide over not faring well in exams. The incident occurred six years ago. After this, she maintained distance from her husband and her family, including her brother.
Thus, the family does not have any clue about her relationship with Ramesh. In fact, she had mentioned that a person named Dileep, whom she acquainted on Facebook, and asked him to perform her last rites.
Dileep, speaking to Suvarna News, said that she had told him that Ramesh was harassing her mentally and physically. He also revealed that initially Ramesh had promised to look after her well and she had believed him.
