The designer has look towards his home continent for his fall 2018 ad campaign, Stronger In Colour
Called the 'Most Woke Man in Fashion' Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung's latest advertising campaign promises to be an inclusive treat. The designer has cast exclusively Asian models including Diya Prabhakar and Nepalese Varsha Thapa, who studied in India.
Singapore-based Diya Prabhakar was 14 when she was scouted. “I was in India for my year-end school holidays and went to see a fashion show. Somebody spotted me there and asked if I was interested in walking for a show. I jumped at this offer, and from the first time I walked the ramp, I just knew this is what I’d always wanted to do,” she says.
This is not the first time either, the designer sent models from 35 countries down the runway for his last show to represent a world where “all humanity reigns.”
In an interview with HuffPost, he said, "Growing up I never saw someone who looked like me represented in Hollywood films or fashion photos in a desirable and glamorous way. I want to change this."
Bollywood celebs such as Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and many others count him as their go-to designer.
