The former Miss Universe walked the ramp for designer Sunita Shanker to support sustainable fashion in a Kanjeevaram silk jumpsuit. Day 2 of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai was dedicated to sustainable, eco-friendly fashion.
Actor Susmita Sen proved that she's still got it with her recent runway stint. The former model and Miss Universe walked the ramp of the Sustainable Fashion Day of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week at Mumbai. Delhi-based handloom advocate, Sunita Shanker is the creative force behind her outfit.
Shanker collaborated with 94-year-old RmKV Silks, one of South India’s legacy textile institutions, to give the Kanjeevaram a makeover. This collaboration has resulted in a glorious mashup of traditional silk and contemporary fashion. The showcase also represented this idea as models walked the runway wearing silk saris, kurtas, jackets and gowns in a modern silhouette.
Sushmita's outfit was the perfect way to close the show. Wearing a silk jumpsuit with influences by the good old sari in the form pleats and multicoloured drapes, Sen served major oomph in this outfit. Don't believe us? Take a dekko:
