BJP MP Maneka Gandhi has won the Internet with her immediate action to rescue an injured monkey from Delhi streets

Maneka Gandhi, who is a minister of women and child development, has won many hearts on the Internet for helping a badly injured monkey after a netizen informed about the poor soul.

In the tweet, Bharti Jain shared the picture of the monkey and wrote, “This monkey is injured and in a very bad state. Please, some NGO or animal rights activist come forward to rescue him. This is near Press Club of India at Raisina Road, New Delhi (SIC).”

She also tagged Maneka Gandhi and asked her to help the severely injured monkey. The minister didn't waste any time and came into action by sending a vet care car to the spot.

Later, Bharti tweeted back updating the situation of the monkey. She said: "The monkey has been picked up and am sure is in good hands. Thanks!"

Thank you for tagging me. I’m sending a car right now to have him sent to Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre for treatment. The car will be there in a few minutes. https://t.co/x5JxM0RaOl

A few months ago, Maneka Gandhi introduced a hashtag #IllegalPetShops and requested people to step in and help in her efforts to identify illegal pet shops across India. In 1992, she started the organisation People for Animals which is the largest organisation for animal rights/welfare in India.

The trade of illegal pet shops and unlicensed breeders has been carrying on in a terrible fashion and we need your help to stop it. Please send me a picture and a line about the pet shop that you've come across and tag me on twitter or instagram by using pic.twitter.com/mwM9FYbHfD

In the video, Gandhi said, “Last year the govt of India passed a law saying that it was illegal for any pet shop to sell live animals, birds or fish; And for any breeder to operate, unless they were licensed.  This hasn’t happened in the last one year, mainly because of disparities with local officials who claim they have no idea where the pet shops are. This is where India has to step in. It would be very good if we could take responsibility in joining hands."
