About Maria Branyas Morera:
Born in San Francisco, California, on March 4, 1907, Maria moved back to Spain with her family when she was eight years old, eventually settling in Catalonia. Living through both the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) and the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918, Maria claimed to have "very bad memories" of both events.

Researchers are currently examining Ms. Morera's physique to learn more about the factors that contribute to a long life. She has provided samples of her blood, urine, and saliva, which will be compared to those of her 80-year-old daughter. Researchers aim to create medications that fight age-related illnesses by examining Ms. Morera's genes.
