Nidhi Yadav, a young entrepreneur, transitioned from computer engineering to launching her own company. Following her passion, she ventured into the fashion industry and established herself as a successful entrepreneur.
Attending a fashion school
Nidhi was employed at the renowned company Deloitte. She always had a dream of becoming a fashion designer. To make the transition, she completed a one-year course at Polimoda Fashion School in Florence. She successfully secured a job at a reputed firm in Italy, however, she opted to return to India to live with her family.
Launching the brand
In the year 2014, Nidhi embarked on her entrepreneurial journey. With a modest investment of Rs 3.5 lakh, she launched her company named ‘Aks’. She aimed to offer designer ethnic wear at affordable prices for women aged 18 to 35.
The journey to achieving success through this endeavour was not an easy one. After five years of dedication and perseverance, the company achieved a significant milestone. By the end of 2021, Aks made a revenue of Rs 200 crore without any external funding.
Enduring challenges
The pandemic proved to be a challenging period for the company. The production halted, and Nidhi and her team encountered difficulties in paying salary to their staff while striving to ensure their well-being. Nidhi adapted to the evolving circumstances and adopted different business strategies. In response to the crisis, they began with the production of masks and PPE kits. Simultaneously, the team repurposed excess materials to create a clothing line for children.
Nidhi’s family
Nidhi leads a happy and peaceful life with her family. She is married to Satpal Yadav, an MBA graduate from IIM Kozhikode, who supported her in establishing the business. They worked together and even travelled to various cities to procure fabrics. They are parents to a daughter named Sunidhi.
