Who is Shalini Patel?
Varanasi’s Shalini Patel has secured the top position in the B. Ed entrance examinations. She hails from a lower middle-class family. Shalini’s father, Kallu Patel, works as a mason and her mother, Anita Devi is a housewife. Shalini has three sisters and a brother.
Shalini completed her schooling from Jawahar Adarsh Inter College. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Banaras Hindu University.
Despite all the struggles, Shalini’s determination for education remained strong. Shalini scored an impressive 370 out of 400 marks in the B. Ed Joint Entrance Examination conducted by Bundelkhand University.

While studying for her studies, Shalini also taught young school children for free of cost. The local residents of the town share that her dedication to both her studies and teaching was evident from an early age.
This was Shalini’s second attempt at the examinations and she came out shining. Her aspirations go beyond as she aspires to become an IAS officer in her future.
At-home preparation
Shalini was determined to perform exceptionally in her second attempt after she failed to gain good marks in the first one. She studied her mistakes and utilized all the resources available online for her preparation.
Shalini shares that her family has been constantly supportive of her dreams. Her brother helps her father run the family which makes it easier for her to focus on her studies without any worries.
Shalini also participates in social work. She has received training as an Eco-skilled Ganga Mitra from Mahamana Malviya Ganga Research Centre, BHU.
