Success story: Anand Gautam’s journey from a postal assistant to achieving 33rd rank in BPSC

Anand Gautam, hailing from Jharkhand, secured the 33rd rank in the 2023 BPSC exam. His success is a testament to his mother's unwavering support, who ran a beauty parlour to fund his education after his father's passing. 

After the demise of his father, Anand Gautam's mother took on the responsibility of supporting the family. She ran a beauty parlour to fund her son's education. Today, Anand has made his entire district proud by securing the 33rd rank in the 2023 BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) exam. Hailing from Dhamri village in the Meharama block of Godda, Jharkhand, Anand credits much of his success to his mother, Chanda Kumari, whose constant support ensured his dreams stayed on track despite the challenges they faced.

Background

Anand’s father, Ravindra Kumar Sah, passed away in 2017. Despite the financial hardships, Anand’s mother, Chanda Kumari, remained resolute. She started running a beauty parlour to support the family and fund her children’s education. Her younger son, Ritesh Roshan, is currently studying at BHU (Banaras Hindu University). Chanda Kumari’s dream is to see both her sons succeed and contribute to society and the nation. Recognising his mother’s sacrifices, Anand devoted himself wholeheartedly to his studies.

Anand has been a bright student since childhood. He completed his class 10 from DAV Public School, Mathurapur, in 2015, achieving a CGPA 10. He then passed his class 12 from Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Bokaro, in 2017 with 89%. 

Dream of serving the society

Anand Gautam worked as a Postal Assistant at the post office in Belur, Karnataka, while preparing for the BPSC exam. Balancing work and study wasn't easy, but he managed to dedicate time to his studies at night after long working hours. Anand believes that time management and strong willpower are essential to success. His father’s dream was for Anand to join the administrative services and serve society, and this vision has now become Anand’s life goal.

Anand Gautam and his younger brother, Ritesh Roshan, are now preparing for the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exam. Their dream is to join the civil services and contribute to the nation's service. Their dream is to bring positive change to society through administrative services.
