Akshit Parashari achieved an All India Rank 10 in the UPSC Engineering Services Examination while working at GAIL. His strategic approach to studying while working shows that with determination, any goal is attainable.

Akshit Parashari made history by clearing the UPSC while juggling a job, securing an impressive All India Rank 10 in the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE). His remarkable journey sets a powerful example for those balancing studies with professional commitments, demonstrating that with unwavering determination and a focused approach, any goal is achievable, regardless of the challenges faced.

Background

Akshit Parashari began his early education at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, a Hindi medium school on Nainital Road. From an early age, he showed a natural aptitude for academics. His exceptional performance in his studies led him to join Jai Narayan Inter College in class 6, where his teachers quickly recognized his potential and encouraged him to aim higher. Akshit’s father, an English lecturer at the same institution, played a pivotal role in nurturing his academic growth and fostering a strong foundation for his future achievements.

Pursuing engineering

Akshit Parashari topped his entire district in class 12, demonstrating his academic prowess early on. However, despite his stellar performance, his preparation wasn’t enough to secure a place in his desired engineering college. Undeterred, he took a gap year, dedicating himself to intensive preparation for the JEE Mains. His hard work paid off when he gained admission to a better engineering college. During his BTech, Akshit continued to excel, becoming the All-Over UP topper and earning the prestigious Governor's Gold Medal for his outstanding academic achievements.

UPSC ESE preparation

After completing his BTech, Akshit Parashari appeared for the GATE exam and secured an impressive All India Rank 68. This earned him an interview call from Mumbai, and he was selected for a position at a Public Sector Organization (PSO). However, Akshit chose not to join the job and instead decided to join GAIL. While working at GAIL, Akshit’s ambition pushed him to prepare for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE). Leveraging his strong engineering background, he chose Electrical Engineering as his discipline and, through relentless dedication, achieved an outstanding All India Rank 10 in the UPSC ESE.

Study strategies

Akshit Parashari believes that studying while working is undoubtedly challenging, but with the right strategy and discipline, even the most difficult goals can be achieved. He dedicated his weekends exclusively to studying, and instead of focusing on the number of hours he studied each day, he set clear, achievable targets. Throughout his journey, his colleagues also played a crucial role in motivating him. Akshit always made sure that even if his study time was limited, the quality of his study remained high, prioritising focused and effective learning over sheer quantity.
