Shine in UPSC with study strategies from AIR 118 Siddharth Srivastava

Siddharth Srivastava has been working as Naib Tehsildar since 2022. He cleared the UPSC exams in his last attempt by securing an impressive 118th rank.

Siddharth Srivastava cracked UPSC CSE 2023 exam by securing an impressive 118th rank. He shares that to achieve success in UPSC, it is crucial to solve as many questions as possible from previous years’ question papers. Aspirants must avoid distractions and focus on their studies. Plenty of educational resources are available online, so it’s important to recognize the reliable ones for better performance. Moreover, maintaining a distance from social media platforms during your UPSC journey can make a huge difference.

Interview experience

During Siddharth Srivastava’s interview, a board member asked him why he had closed both buttons of his coat. He replied very candidly saying that he simply felt comfortable that way. The board members were impressed with his confidence. Then another member asked where he found the mirror, to which he humorously replied that he had just come from the restroom. His response elicited laughter from the board members. 

Being confident

Siddharth shares that one need not be afraid of the interview process. The board members interact pleasantly, urging candidates to answer questions by giving them some thought. The interview is not daunting, one only needs to understand that the questions must be answered genuinely and naturally, with no political angle. Furthermore, he shares that he scored 160 marks in the interview round in his previous attempt, and this time he managed to score 175 by recognizing his abilities. 

More questions

Siddharth earned an engineering degree from IIT (BHU). After completing his education, he dedicated all his time for the preparation of competitive exams. Since 2022, he has been working as Naib Tehsildar. During the UPSC interview, he was asked about his job profile and other similar questions. One of the board members asked how he would enhance productivity in his role as Naib Tehsildar. 

 

UPSC journey

Siddharth answered the interview question quite confidently. He shared that he had previously attempted UPSC and could not clear them even in his fourth attempt. He was already working as a Naib Tehsildar then. When he had joined the job, his seniors encouraged him to observe the District Magistrate daily to feel inspired. He did the same, and his curiosity about the DM’s work motivated him to study diligently. Then he managed to get to the interview rounds, and eventually secured 188th rank in UPSC 2023. 

Changing lives

When asked where he sees himself in 30 years, he expressed his desire to serve the community. He wishes to find happiness in serving the common people while making an impact in their lives. He emphasized that bringing them satisfaction and fulfilment, would bring him immense joy. 

Success in final attempt

Siddharth Srivastava was dedicated to his studies since childhood. He completed his schooling from Bhim Bhagwanpur College, and then earned a BTech degree from IIT BHU. He even received a job offer from Maruti Suzuki, but he chose to prepare for competitive exams. His journey included multiple attempts at UPSC and UPPSC. He appeared for UPSC a total of six times, and it was in his last attempt that he succeeded with flying colours.
