Padma Shri nominee Amit Niranjan has 8 Masters degrees, qualified for UGC NET seven times

Amit Nirajan has passion for studies has led him to qualify UGC NET exam seven times in seven different subjects. He holds eight Masters degrees and is continuing with his research for the second time with NET JRF.

Kanpur: Amit Niranjan has accomplished significant milestones in his academic journey. He has qualified UGC NET examination seven times, has done Masters in eight subjects and is now enrolled in a PhD programme for the second time. 

His achievements are truly a feat in the academic world. He has his name registered in the India Book of Records for being the person with the most acquired number of degrees. On 2nd February 2022, Amit registered his name in the World of Records. To felicitate his academic achievements, the Uttar Pradesh government has nominated his name for the Padma Shri Award. 

Background

Amit’s father worked as a manager in a handloom factory. Due to heart complications, his father passed away on 22 February 2022, during Covid. Amit’s father had been a motivational figure in his life, and his absence affected his studies. His mother, filling the void, urged him to continue with his studies. Amit recovered from the shock with the support of his family and cleared his UGC NET exam for the seventh time in December 2022. 

Dislike for jobs

After qualifying for NET in Management, Amit worked in Allahabad Back in the year 2013. The job was monotonous and did not interest him at all. His dreams lay in creating something bigger and more impactful. 

He has a deep love for books and wishes to influence people with his writing. He believes books are a means to connect with the world on a larger scale and they make life more delightful. To pursue this dream, he left his job. 

Qualifying NET exams seven times

There are people who fail to qualify for the UGC NET exam even after several attempts. But Amit’s greatness lies in the fact that he has cleared this exam seven times in seven different subjects. 

He passed NET-JRF Commerce in June 2010, NET Economics in December 2010, Management in December 2012, NET Education in December 2015, NET Political Science in December 2019, Sociology in December 2020 and NET Adult Education in December 2022.
Masters in 8 subjects

Amit has completed his Masters degree in the following subjects: M. Comm., MA in Economics, MA in Education, MA in Sociology, MA in Political Science, MA in Philosophy, MA in HR and M Phil in Commerce. 

Scholarships made it easier

Amit receives funding for his education from the government itself. He received a scholarship for completing his B.Ed. from Kanpur University. He has cleared NET-JRF examinations which allows one to pursue their education in research while paying a stipend of Rs 35,000 a month. 

Amit mentions that after completing two years of his first JRF, he started receiving Rs 45,000 a month which allowed him to pursue his other interests comfortably. To top all the degrees he holds, Amit has also cleared tough competitive examinations like SSC, RBI, UPSC, and IBPS. Currently, Amit is pursuing his second doctorate degree in Economics. 

Making the world a happy place

Amit wishes to spread his love of books to other people. He wants students to look at their studies as a way to greatness rather than ordeals to gain more marks. His motto is to help more students gain knowledge. He is currently working to bring educational reform in India and has helped over two lakh students with his guidance. 

To help poor children receive education, he provides them with free books, bags and educational materials. The schools must promote growth and learning; rather than instilling a fear of studies in students, students must be taught in a way which is fun and interactive. Students who naturally enjoy learning tend to perform better in their studies with no extra effort. 

Amit counsels students of all ages to help them find the best methods of study through offline and online programmes. He prepares students for the preparation of competitive exams as well.
