Former police constable Uday Krishna Reddy secured AIR 780 in UPSC CSE 2023. He resigned from his job in 2018 after being humiliated by seniors in front of 60 colleagues.
From time to time we come across people who amaze and inspire thousands with their dedication and hard work to achieve excellence. One such inspiring tale comes from Andhra Pradesh, where a police constable named Udya Krishna Reddy resigned from his position due to humiliation from seniors and cracked the UPSC exam.
As per Indian Express reports, Reddy was belittled by his seniors in 2018 in front of 60 colleagues. Following this, he decided to quit his job, realising he could no longer tolerate the treatment, and dedicated himself to preparing for the civil services exam full-time.
Reddy revealed his experience to the Indian Express and said, "My circle inspector did not like the fact that I was preparing for civils in my leisure time. He would make fun of my preparation, and assign me duty out of turn to demotivate me. One day he mocked my preparation in front of 60 colleagues and gave me an extra hour of drill as punishment when I was a little late. He just wanted to limit my career progress.”
He also opened up about his resignation and how his senior did not forward his resignation letter and marked him absent, which resulted in Reddy getting a deserter notice.
Reddy said, "He took out his grudge against me by not accepting my resignation. I had to then request the SP to relieve me, while I worked hard on my preparations."
“The humiliation kept haunting me. The words ‘after all you are only a constable’ echo in my head,” he added.
The Andhra man fought all the odds and came on top with securing AIR 780 in the UPSC CSE 2023. Currently, he aims to retake the exam till he gets the rank to become an IAS officer.
