In 2017, Pathikrit Saha made the decision of resigning from his job to pursue a noble initiative. He became a food delivery boy and began providing food and education to young children from underprivileged backgrounds to brighten their futures.

Kolkata: In this world where most people work towards building high-profile careers, a young man from West Bengal quit his government job to become food delivery boy. Pathikrit Saha, hailing from the North 24 Parganas district, transitioned from a government job in Dum Dum in 2017 and began working as a food delivery agent. He gives leftover food to kids from underprivileged backgrounds and also provides them free education.

What inspired Pathikrit Saha?

Pathikrit Saha shares a heartwarming instance that inspired him to follow this path. One day, at Dum Dum Cantonment Railway Station, he saw a 6-year-old kid begging for money. At first, he ignored the child, but Pathikrit was moved when the child said that his mother would scold him for returning home empty-handed. This encounter prompted Pathikrit to take action to support children living in poor conditions.

Free education

Pathikrit Saha embarked on his journey of empowering underprivileged children. He realized that merely giving them money and food is not enough for their upliftment. Their lives can only be transformed through education. With this thought, he initiated the effort of providing food while educating these children. Earlier, only three children attended his school in Dum Dum Cantonment. Today, approximately 30 underprivileged children receive education through this endeavour.

The beginnings

Pathikrit Saha was already engaged in social work way before he launched this initiative. In 2013, he and his friends donated blankets, clothes, and food to those in need. In the year 2015, he secured a comfortable government job, but he realized that it came in the way of his social work. In 2017, he made the decision of resigning from the job to pursue a noble cause. He became a food delivery boy and began providing education to young children to brighten their futures.

Being an inspiration

The cancelled food orders are distributed to kids. Although there has been a significant decrease in cancelled orders over time, children continue to attend the school for education. Pathikrit Saha also supports kids in securing admissions in government schools for further education. He provides them with stationary items, notebooks, and schoolbooks. Through his dedicated efforts, he has been able to add new colours to the lives of poor children.
