Meet Satyam Kumar, who cracked IIT JEE at the young age of 13

Satyam Kumar from Patna holds the record of cracking IIT JEE at the age of 13. He completed his BTech and MTech degrees from IIT Kanpur. Due to his extraordinary academic achievements, he was offered to pursue research at the University of Texas in Austin, USA. Presently, he is working as a Graduate Research Assistant.

Bihar: Satyam Kumar from Patna holds the record of cracking IIT JEE at the age of 13. His father works as a farmer, and Satyam has made his entire family proud by accomplishing some great goals. He completed his BTech and MTech degrees from IIT Kanpur and earned his PhD degree from Texas University at the age of 24. Presently, he is doing research on brain-machine interfaces at UT Austin.

Satyam Kumar’s IIT Journey

Satyam Kumar has always been a hardworking student. At the young age of 12, when most children are busy playing video games or in the fields, Satyam was busy preparing for the IIT JEE entrance exams. In the year 2013, he secured 670th rank in IIT JEE and became the youngest Indian student to accomplish this feat. Sahas Kaushil from Delhi had previously made this record in 2010 at the age of 14. 

Interestingly, Satyam Kumar had appeared for the entrance exams twice. In the year 2012, he appeared for the exams for the first time and secured 8,137th rank. He made the record of being the youngest student to clear the exam in 2013. 

Brain-Computer Interface studies

Satyam Kumar pursued the combined degree of BTech and MTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in the year 2018. Due to his extraordinary academic achievements, he was offered to pursue research at the University of Texas in Austin, USA. Presently, he is working as a Graduate Research Assistant. 

Work experience

As per Satyam Kumar’s LinkedIn profile, he began his career with a research internship at InterDigital Inc. He has also worked at institutions like ETH Zurich and Inaria. He also gained tremendous experience after working as an intern at Apple.
