Read the inspiring journey of Ramesh Rupareliya from Gujarat, who rose from earning a meagre Rs 80 a month as a labourer to building a multi-crore dairy business.
Born in a small village in Gujarat, Ramesh Rupareliya's life is a unique tale of struggle and self-belief. He faced financial hardships in his childhood, but his determination led him to a place he had never imagined. There was a time when Ramesh used to earn Rs 80 per month for grazing cows, and today, he earns crores annually from his dairy business.
Background
Ramesh's life was not always easy. He had studied only till class 7, and his family's financial situation forced him to face economic hardship at a young age. His family opened a cow shed. But this decision led to a financial crisis and they were burdened with debt. They then sold their land and moved to Gondal city. There he worked as a cowherd, for which he was paid 80 rupees a month.
Onion farming
Ramesh Rupaliya initially didn't own any land; he rented a plot from a Jain family in Gondal. The land wasn't naturally fertile, so he used traditional methods to improve it, relying on cow dung and urine instead of chemicals. His efforts paid off when he planted an onion crop, which brought in an impressive Rs 35 lakh. This success marked a major turning point in his life.
Business success
Ramesh's newfound confidence inspired him to transform his interest into a business. He began caring for cows and started producing ghee from their milk. The venture wasn't without its challenges, as initial complaints about the milk's smell led him to halt sales. Despite these setbacks, Ramesh's determination remained unwavering.
Ghee business
Ramesh began making ghee in a modest rented room. He would pack the ghee into plastic and glass jars, load them onto his bicycle, and sell them door-to-door. He never imagined that his diligent efforts would eventually lead to such significant success. His ghee quickly gained popularity, and customers began to rave about the quality of his product.
Journey to success
Ramesh didn't just produce ordinary ghee; he crafted a premium, medicinally-rich ghee, which quickly gained popularity for its health benefits. As word spread about the superior quality of his ghee, his business began to flourish. What started with just a few cows has now expanded to 250 Gir cows, and Ramesh is earning Rs 8 crore annually. His ghee is now so renowned that it is exported to 123 countries worldwide.
