Meet Madiha, a 6-year-old Taekwondo prodigy

Jaipur’s Madiha won a gold in taekwondo in the third taekwondo competition at the inauguration ceremony of Khelo India centres in Jaipur. She is only 6 years old but is inspired to play for her country at the national levels.

Jaipur: A young girl of 6 has made something happen that takes years of practice to achieve. Jaipur’s Madiha has won a gold medal in taekwondo championship. Her entire family and relatives are extremely proud of her, and the neighbours gathered to celebrate her achievement. Union Minister, Anurag Thakur congratulated Madiha for her success. 

Madiha’s hobbies

During the inauguration ceremony of Khelo India Centres in Rajasthan, a taekwondo event was organized. Madiha participated in the event and secured first place in the competition. 

She is only 6 years old and is a student of class 1. Her father, Mohammad Awez works as a Chartered Accountant and her mother, Samreen Awez is a housewife. Her brother is two years older than her and studies in class 3. 

Madiha is an active student who participates in various co-curricular activities of her school. Her parents have instilled a passion of sports in her. They encourage her to try to learn various things to find out what she likes best. 

Apart from sports, Madiha is fond of singing. Her brother is a basketball student, and his coach noticed Madiha’s interest in sports and advised her father to send her to Taekwondo classes. 

Taekwondo training

Madiha is a regular student and never misses school. After school, she devotes two hours for her taekwondo practice. Rest of the time is spent in studying, dancing, singing, and relaxing.
 
Her father shares that she has been practicing taekwondo since the month of March. Madiha has a busy schedule every day; but despite all the other activities she is involved in, she never misses her taekwondo classes. Her parents encourage her but never force her to do anything; Madiha is herself full of enthusiasm to train herself for state-level and national-level competitions. 

With her consistent practice, she would become a state champion in just a few months. Madiha’s parents find it overwhelming that their young daughter of 6 is working to accomplish such big dreams. 

Appreciation from the Union Minister

After Madiha won the gold medal, the Union Minister, Anurag Thakur congratulated her and motivated her to continue playing taekwondo. He encouraged her by saying that one day she will be able to play for her country at the international championships. 

Madiha dreams of becoming a pilot. Her parents are ready to support her in all her endeavours because of her exceptional performance in all areas.
