Meet Kriti Raj, an accomplished IAS officer who cleared the UPSC exams through self-study

Kriti Raj originally hails from Jhansi district. After completing her BTech degree, she embarked on her UPSC journey. Following her success, Kriti Raj was appointed as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Firozabad district, Uttar Pradesh.

Kriti Raj achieved a significant milestone by successfully clearing the UPSC exam in the year 2020. She received her appointment in the prestigious Indian Administrative Services. Presently, she is serving as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Firozabad district, Uttar Pradesh. She oversees various aspects within the designated jurisdiction. 

Education

IAS Kriti Raj completed her schooling from St Francis Convent School in Jhansi. She excelled in her class 12 board exams. Subsequently, she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from BIET Jhansi. She received her education in the field of computer science, but her goal remained becoming a civil servant.

Her determination and hard work ultimately led to her success in UPSC 2020 examinations. Presently, she works as an SDM in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Kriti Raj diligently prepared for UPSC even during the pandemic and the lockdown. Despite the challenges, she remained steadfast in her pursuit of civil services. During her journey, she received immense support from her family and friends who consistently encouraged her to pursue her dreams.  

Self-study

What is remarkable is that Kriti Raj accomplished her goals through self-study. Prior to her UPSC success, she also established an NGO. However, she realized that pursuing a career in civil services would allow her to make a greater impact on society. Through dedicated effort, she achieved her dreams and became an IAS officer in 2020. 

Salary of an IAS officer

IAS officers are appointed as District Magistrates, empowering them to oversee all administrative departments within their districts. An IAS officer receives an initial salary of Rs 56,100 per month. After securing the position of Cabinet Secretary, they earn Rs 2.5 lakh per month. They also enjoy various allowances and facilities.
