Anamika Ramesh, after completing her BTech from NIT and her MBA from IIM, left her private job to embark on the challenging journey of the UPSC examination.

Anamika Ramesh's journey was deeply influenced by her family's strong educational background, particularly her father, Ramesh Chand Meena, who serves as an IAS officer. Inspired by this legacy, she made the bold decision to leave her lucrative job after completing her MBA from IIM and embarked on the rigorous path of UPSC preparation. In 2019, she achieved her goal and became an IAS officer, securing an impressive 116th rank.

Education from NIT and IIM

After completing her school education, Anamika sought higher education at some of the most prestigious institutions in the country. She earned a BTech degree in Electronics and Communication from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirapalli. Following her BTech, she pursued an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. The management and leadership skills she mastered during her studies have proven invaluable in her current role in administrative services.

Private job after MBA

After completing her MBA, Anamika took on the role of Sales Marketing Intern at a private company. She then worked as an Associate in Transaction Advisory Services at EY (Ernst & Young). However, during her time in the private sector, she came to the realisation that she was not making the positive impact on society that she aspired to. This realisation ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in the civil services.

UPSC preparation

After spending a few years in the private sector, Anamika relocated to Delhi in 2017 to focus on her UPSC preparation. She sought guidance from various coaching institutes and fully immersed herself in her studies. This period proved to be challenging, as the UPSC examination demands considerable mental and physical endurance.

UPSC journey

Anamika's journey through the UPSC process was far from easy. While her father achieved success in his third attempt, Anamika secured an All India Rank of 116 in her fourth attempt, marking a significant milestone in her life. She believes that although the UPSC preparation process is challenging, success is attainable for those who work patiently and consistently. Anamika’s father, a graduate of IIT Delhi, currently serves as the Member Secretary of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDATN).

Assistant Collector

Anamika's first posting was as Assistant Collector in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, where she began her journey in the civil services. She then took on the role of Assistant Secretary at NITI Aayog and served as a National Level Master Trainer in the Election Commission. Currently, she holds the position of Additional Collector in Chengalpattu, furthering her contributions to public service.
