Vikas Mangotra, a 50-year-old from Delhi, inspired by family and passion, retook NEET to support his daughter's journey to success.
In a heartwarming display of dedication and family support, a 50-year-old man from Delhi, Vikas Mangotra, recently achieved success in the NEET-UG 2024 exam alongside his daughter, Mimansa, who is just 18 years old. This wasn't Vikas's first attempt at NEET; he had previously qualified in 2022 but decided to try again this year to inspire his daughter and enhance his teaching methods.
Originally from Jammu, Vikas Mangotra has had a longstanding passion for medicine. Back in the early 90s, he had aimed to pursue a medical career but circumstances led him to pursue engineering instead. However, his dream of contributing to the medical field never faded. Over the years, Vikas worked as a corporate employee in Delhi while keeping his interest in medical studies alive through various exams like GATE and UPSC CSE.
Vikas's journey towards NEET in 2022 was driven by a desire to test his abilities and revisit his passion for medicine. His success that year boosted his confidence, leading him to take the exam once more in 2024. His motivation this time was not only personal but also to support his daughter, Mimansa, in her NEET preparations. Vikas had been assisting Mimansa extensively, explaining complex concepts in a simple and understandable manner. His dedication and knowledge pleasantly surprised Mimansa, who found his guidance invaluable during her own preparation.
Inspired by stories of older individuals achieving remarkable feats in academics, Vikas diligently balanced his corporate job with rigorous study sessions after office hours. His efforts paid off as he not only qualified again but also deepened his commitment to teaching and mentoring his daughter.
Reflecting on his experience, Vikas emphasized the importance of parental involvement in a child's education, especially during challenging exams like NEET. He encouraged parents to actively engage with their children's learning journey, providing support and guidance wherever possible.
Vikas Mangotra's story is a testament to perseverance, familial love, and the pursuit of lifelong dreams. His journey from corporate life to medical aspirations highlights the enduring spirit of learning and the profound impact of parental support on educational success.
