Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL and one of India's wealthiest individuals, has topped the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List for 2024. This marks the 11th edition of the annual ranking, which highlights the country’s most generous philanthropists. According to the report, Shiv Nadar has made an astounding annual donation of Rs 2,153 crore, securing his position as the most generous philanthropist in India.
According to reports, 79-year-old Shiv Nadar has earned the title of 'India’s Most Generous Philanthropist' for the third consecutive year, with an extraordinary donation of Rs 5.9 crore per day. This remarkable contribution shows his ongoing commitment to philanthropy and his leadership in giving back to society.
Mukesh Ambani, widely regarded as India's richest man, ranks second on the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List with an annual donation of Rs 407 crore. Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, has earned the distinction of being the youngest philanthropist on the list. Meanwhile, Rohini Nilekani, with a donation of Rs 154 crore, holds the title of the India's most generous woman, further highlighting her significant contributions to philanthropy.

Reportedly, the donations were assessed based on their cash or cash-equivalent value from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, to determine the rankings for the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List.
The top 10 individuals on the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List have collectively donated Rs 4,625 crore, accounting for nearly 53% of the total donations on the list. Among the notable new entries, Krishna Sivakumar and Susmita & Subroto Bagchi have secured the 7th and 9th positions, respectively.

It is reported that six of the top donors on the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List have primarily focused their philanthropic efforts on education.
